# The emplio command Emplio uses on its computer

> Emplio works through one command on its own computer: emplio. The groups it has, what each does, and where to read it to understand or extend Emplio.

Emplio does its work by running shell commands on its own computer. Everything beyond plain Linux goes through one command, `emplio`, installed at `/usr/local/bin/emplio`. `ez` is its old name, kept so skills saved before the rename still work.

People don't type these. Reading them is the quickest way to see what Emplio can do, and where to add something new.

## Where it lives

The script is written in `backend/src/sandbox.ts`, in the `usage()` function and the `case` below it. Most groups pass the request to the API, which does the work and checks who may do it, so the rules stay on the server. The `mcp` group's help, for example, is in `backend/src/mcp.ts`.

> Each person has their own computer, and `emplio` acts as them. App actions that send, change or delete in an app can show an **Allow** or **Deny** card before they run.
