# Automations: work Emplio does on its own

> Set Emplio to do work on a schedule or when something happens in an app, and get a morning brief and end-of-day report without asking.

Automations are work Emplio does without being asked: on a schedule, when something happens in an app, or when you run one. Each run gets its own chat.

## Make one

The easy way is to ask in a chat:

> Every weekday at 9, send me yesterday's sales.

> When an email comes in from a new customer, add them to our leads.

Emplio sets it up for you.

## Manage them

**1. Open Automations**

Press your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then **Automations**.

**2. Check each one**

You see what starts it, who it runs as, its last run and its next run. Press the last run to open its chat.

**3. Change it**

Use the menu beside it: **Run now**, **Turn off** or **Turn on**, **Edit** or **Delete**.

If an automation sends or changes things in an app, each of those actions shows a switch. Its runs can't do the ones marked **needs your OK** until you turn their switch on.

Owners and admins can add and change automations. Repeating ones also show on [Work](https://docs.emplio.app/guide/work.md) under **Repeats**.

## Built-in check-ins

Emplio also works on its own through the day, without any automation:

| **Morning brief** | Today's meetings, what's late, what's due and what needs you. |
| **Background rounds** | Every few hours it looks around, handles what it can, and tells you only what needs you. |
| **End-of-day report** | What got done, what didn't and what's next. |
