# Skills: teach Emplio how you do things

> Skills are saved how-tos. Show Emplio a task once in its browser, or explain it in a chat, and it saves a skill it can repeat.

A skill is a saved how-to: the steps for a job, done the way your business does it. Emplio makes and improves skills as it works.

## Show Emplio how

**1. Open the live browser**

Ask Emplio to open the website, then press **Live browser**.

**2. Press Show Emplio how**

Pick **Record voice** to talk it through, or **Clicks only**.

**3. Do the task once**

Click and type as you normally would. Passwords aren't recorded. What you save really saves.

**4. Press Done**

Emplio turns the recording into a skill and tells you in a line what it can now do.

A recording can run up to 30 minutes. Press **Cancel** to throw it away.

## Use a skill

Type `/` at the start of a message and pick a skill. Skills marked **yours** are your own; the rest are the business's. Emplio also picks the right skill by itself.

## Whose skills

| Made in | Saved for |
| - | - |
| An owner's or admin's chat | The whole business, or that person |
| A staff chat | That person. Changes to business skills go to the owner as a proposal. |

## Skills from the skill store

Emplio can also find a ready-made skill in the public [skill store](https://skills.sh). Every install shows a card with what it is, where it's from and what the store's security checks found. Nothing installs until you press **Allow**.
